LRGP confirms Senna to race at Spa

LRGP eventually confirmed on Wednesday evening the appointment of Bruno Senna as its “new race driver at this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps”.

As speculated earlier this week, the Brazilian will line up alongside Vitaly Petrov, thus replacing Nick Heidfeld at the wheel of the R31 #9. The team didn’t give any more details, promising to issue a further detailed press release tomorrow morning.

Nick Heidfeld had been hired by the team at the start of the year to replace its lead driver Robert Kubica, who was badly injured in a rally accident.

His results haven’t met the expectations of the team’s management even though he currently lies in 8th position in the driver’s standings, one place higher than his teammate Vitaly Petrov, and scored a podium in Malaysia.

Bruno Senna will attend the FIA press conference on Thursday afternoon.

The Brazilian, nephew of the late Ayrton, made his race debut last year and contested 18 GP with HRT.
