HRT confirm plans to partake in Young Driver Test at Silverstone

Spanish Formula 1 team HRT have announced they will partake in a Young Driver Test the week after the British Grand Prix, around the Silverstone circuit. Amidst much deliberation over the location of this years Young Driver Test, a agreement has finally been reached which will enable the Madrid-based outfit to test next week.

During two days of testing around the legendary Silverstone circuit, HRT’s development driver Ma Qing Hua will get his first taste of Formula 1 machinery as he gets behind the wheel of the F112. The former Chinese Touring Car Champion, who has also recently tested World Series by Renault and GP2 machinery, will take to the track on Thursday the 12th and Friday the 13th of July.

"I’m very happy that the day has finally come and I will be able to step into a Formula 1 car for the first time with HRT Formula 1 Team.” Explained Ma Qing Hua, “And I want to thank everyone who made it possible for me to be here today, my compatriots who support me, and the people who made it possible for these tests to take place in Silverstone. The last few months have been intense as I have been doing a lot of tests on the track and off it, which have helped me to improve as a driver and take on this challenge from a better position. I’ve worked hard to make it here but this journey is only getting underway.”

China have never had a Formula 1 driver in the history of the sport, as the 24-year-old strives to make Chinese motor sport history. HRT are adamant that he has shown talent, and the two days of testing at Silverstone will be a wonderful opportunity for Ma Qing Hua to prove his worthiness in Formula 1.
