First Cosworth engines ready to ship

Cosworth’s first batch of Formula One engines destined for use by its five customer teams in pre-season testing was completed prior to Christmas ahead of schedule, and is ready for shipping from the company’s Northampton headquarters.

AT&T Williams, Campos Meta, Lotus F1 Racing, US F1 and Virgin Racing are set to use Cosworth engines for 2010-12 inclusive, and the company is preparing for pre-season testing which takes place throughout February. In two months the teams will be in Bahrain preparing for the season opener, the event marking Cosworth’s return as an engine supplier for the first time since 2006.

Mark Gallagher, F1 General Manager, Cosworth: “The first batch of CA2010 units is boxed and ready for our customers to press ahead with installation, fire-up and initial testing. We’re looking forward to seeing them all on track next month since there is still a lot of work to do before the season starts. After the very busy summer and autumn months when we were putting our program together it has been very rewarding to see the first engines ready for action thanks to the hard work of everyone here at Cosworth and our suppliers.”
