Ferrari on the offensive

There is a great deal of truth in a new feature called ‘the horse whisperer’ on the official Ferrari site, while there are also plenty of comments to make the reader wince.

The Italian team acknowledge that the final tests are critical for the 11 teams expected to line up in Bahrain but are especially critical of the policies adopted by the FIA in trying to introduce new teams to Formula One.

The article draws no punches regarding the beleaguered USF1 team, is equally as scathing about Campos Meta and is not particularly kind to the two new teams that are working flat out and currently testing alongside the big names.

“This is the legacy of the holy war waged by the former FIA president,” the Ferrari article states with reference to the new teams joining - or not - the series. “The cause in question was to allow smaller teams to get into Formula One.

“This is the outcome: two teams will limp into the start of the championship, a third is being pushed into the ring by an invisible hand and, as for the fourth, well, you would do better to call on Missing Persons to locate it.

“In the meantime, we have lost two constructors along the way, in the shape of BMW and Toyota, while at Renault, there’s not much left other than the name. Was it all worth it?

The Ferrari article makes various assumptions and clearly has an agenda. The full article is available by clicking here.
