In the closing round of the 2010 Italian Formula 3 Championship, held at Monza, Andrea Caldarelli provided an outstanding on-track performance. After lining-up at the venue in third place in standings, he didn’t have much hopes to battle with series’ leading Ramos and Richelmi. Thanks to a sensational race 1 though, he reversed all the pre-race expectations by moving from the seventh starting spot to second place. Taking advantage of the issues happened to his two main rivals, he got back into contention and triggered a last-gasp showdown.

On an exciting race 2, Andrea cruised to the lead before surrendering to some recovering cars, in an attempt to protect himself from potential race-ending contacts. By running clean, he managed to confirm third place in standings, and clinched a much-deserved Ferrari Formula 1 test. The Pescara-based driver will be back on an F1 car, after being forced to put a life-long dream on hold due to the end of the Toyota Driver Program.

Andrea Caldarelli: "I’m glad I’ve clinched third place in standings, as well as the test drive with the Formula 1 Ferrari which was my minimum goal for this season. The title was a realistic aim too, but many external factors compromised the consistency of my results. I’ve been able to win three times on race 1, with the grid set by qualifying and no reverse formats. I also won 15.000 Euros in prize money, as nobody scored as many points as me this weekend. Despite all of that, the title didn’t come. I’m not embittered though. Prema Powerteam did a great job for me and I’m eager to express my full potential during the test I’ll be running with the Formula 1 Ferrari."
