F1 hopes over as Bahrain crisis worsens
A three-month state of emergency has been declared
Bahrain’s hopes of staging a rescheduled grand prix this season are all but over.
The island Kingdom’s King Hamad on Tuesday declared a three-month state of emergency, which takes the possible return to normalcy well beyond the FIA’s May 1 deadline for a rescheduled 2011 race.
The development follows the deployment of Saudi forces in Bahrain, and the killing of one soldier, as anti-government protesters continue to remonstrate.
The king has instructed forces to restore order using military means and "any other force", according to a statement.
