Costa positive on the first Ferrari test

The new F10 hit the testing trail this week in Valencia, topping the timesheets on each of the three days. Ferrari technical director Aldo Costa declared himself happy with the first pre-season test, but echoing both Fernando Alonso and Stefano Domenicali, said it was far too early to judge how competitive the team will be.

“It was a very positive test,” the Italian told the official Ferrari website. “We did 1400km - good reliability and a good performance to start with. All the numbers from the simulation, the wind tunnel, turned out pretty well, so we are reasonably happy.

“The feedback in general was good,” he continued. “A good baseline to start developing the car for the next test and the first few races, so positive. We see that we are fast but we don’t know compared to the others precisely.”

Along with their rivals, Ferrari head to Jerez next week for a four day test.

“We’ll have some mechanical development to do and some setup element. Later we will start in test three or four - with aerodynamic new component,” Costa concluded.
