Chris Dyer's birthday at the track

It wasn’t the first time that Chris Dyer, the Australian from Bendigo, Head of race engineering at the Scuderia Ferrari, celebrated his birthday at the track. For an enthusiast like him the box at a race circuit is almost a natural habitat, although sometimes he prefers to be in the snow, which is one of his other passions.

But February has always been the month for Formula 1 tests. The alternatives here are to stay in the garage following the cars every metre and discussing the telemetric data with the colleagues and the driver of the day, or to organise the best possible way the work of those who are in contact with the driver aka the race engineers and the performance engineers.

Chris knows their work like the back of his hand, because that is what he did until the end of 2007 next to many drivers, amongst them some famous names like the World Champions Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen. He’s 42 now, but the passion for this fascinating work is still there although it takes him around the world and therefore far away from his loved ones: the Scuderia and all the fans would like to wish him all the best for his birthday!
