Chandhok in line for Campos seat
Senna manager dismisses exit rumours
It has been a rumour doing the rounds for some time, but today the BBC reported that Karun Chandhok will join Campos Meta this year and that an announcement is imminent.
Chandhok competed in the GP2 series over the last three years, finishing a distant 18th in 2009 with Ocean Racing.
The Indian racer may well team up alongside Bruno Senna, but the Brazilian’s position remains somewhat unclear after new team principal Colin Kolles failed to confirm the status of Senna’s existing contract with Campos Meta.
However, Senna’s manager Chris Goodwin believes that his charge will drive for the team this year as scheduled.
"There’s no reason to think Bruno won’t be part of it,” he told the BBC. “It’s clear as far as we’re concerned. He signed a contract in October and he’ll be in the car this season."
However, should Chandhok be confirmed, well-funded racer Jose Maria Lopez remains in the mix despite his contract with the failing USF1 team.
Lopez brings substantial funding to the sport courtesy of the Argentinean government and where this will leave Senna, who has substantial personal backing but is not bringing money to the team, remains to be seen.
