Buemi leading the way at Jerez

Dry conditions greeted the ten teams for the second day of testing at Jerez with Sebastien Buemi setting the morning pace in his Toro Rosso Ferrari. The Swiss driver completed 52 laps with a best time of 1:20.026s, six-tenths clear of Jenson Button in the McLaren.

Nico Hulkenberg lost most of the morning session when his Cosworth-powered FW32 stopped on track with a hydraulic leak but once back on track, vaulted third fastest. Michael Schumacher was fourth best for Mercedes while Fernando Alonso completed a number of long runs for Ferrari on his way to the fifth fastest time

Vitaly Petrov was scheduled to drive the new R30 today but Renault instead opted to adjust their plans with Robert Kubica taking over in the dry conditions. Kubica was sixth fastest ahead of Tonio Liuzzi, Mark Webber and Kamui Kobayashi.

Timo Glock was back in action in the new Virgin Cosworth but only completed a limited number of laps while he also brought out the red flags after losing the nose on the new VR-01 challenger.

A full report follows at the close of play this evening.
