A weekend to forget for Grosjean

A weekend to forget for Romain at the German Grand Prix culminated in the Frenchman bringing his wounded E20 across the line in P18 after suffering significant damage on the first lap. As ever though, the Frenchman is thinking only about the next good result which he is surely now due…

Romain, a difficult weekend all round; the luck just doesn’t seem to be there for you at the moment…

I think that sums it up to be honest! We were on the back foot from the outset after the grid penalty and nothing went right today. It’s a shame as I had a good start and took a few places in the first corner. Then on the straight there was contact and that was the race pretty much ruined for me.

What exactly happened on the first lap?

I’m not exactly sure at the moment – we’ll have to look at the on-board footage to get a better idea – but my car was badly damaged with a broken front wing and a puncture. I could barely steer the car so I had to run deep into the turn six hairpin, and by the time I managed to get back to the pits the race was as good as over.

What is your mind set after a weekend like this?

You never want to have these kind of weekends, but it happens and you just have to deal with it and move on. The luck will come for us at some point; we have a great team working harder than ever, and the car has again been very strong in the race so we’ll bounce back next time for sure. Results like this aren’t the nicest feeling, but it will make us enjoy the next good race even more.
