Tiago Monteiro drove on the Ricardo Tormo de Cheste circuit this Tuesday at the invitation of SunRed. The Portuguese driver was behind the wheel of the SEAT Leon 1.6 liter Turbo he drove in the 2011 FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) in 2011.

Since he has not yet finalized his 2012 sporting program, Tiago Monteiro took advantage of the occasion to keep up on his reflexes, get back into his rhythm after a three-month break and having fun with a powerful sedan. For SEAT and Sun-Red, these Valencia tests were paramount because they needed to be able to validate many new parts on the Leon 1.6 liter Turbo.

"It was with great pleasure that I accepted SEAT SunRed’s invitation. They were good tests, very profitable for everyone," Tiago Monteiro explained, "I did forty laps with very competitive times. The car is very high-performance, it has considerably improved since the last leg of the 2011 championship. All the changes we tested were positive both in terms of performance as well as reliability. Three months far from the circuits is very long and these tests were a big plus for me because I was able to get back into the rhythm and it was a major first step toward the 2012 season."

Tiago Monteiro hopes to be able to announce his 2012 competition program as soon as possible.
