Meeke rules out repeat win in Argentina

Kris Meeke says he will be hard pushed to claim a second successive win in this year’s Intercontinental Rally Challenge when the series resumes in Argentina on Friday.

Meeke, the defending IRC champion, took his first win of the current campaign in Brazil earlier this month in his Peugeot UK-backed 207 Super 2000.

However, he fears his lack of experience of the Argentine stages will harm is chances of a repeat success on the Carlos Paz-based event.

“I’ve a half idea of what to expect from the recce we did five years ago but it will be a clean sheet of paper approach when we get there,” said Meeke.“We’ll have more opposition than we did in Brazil with Nasser Al-Attiyah and Federico Vilagra, who will both be strong because they are quick but also know the rally very well.

"The important thing is to get points. With the victory under our belts we don’t have to win in Argentina so there is less pressure on us this time.”
