Meeke makes charity donation to hospital

Intercontinental Rally Challenge champion Kris Meeke took time out of his preparations for Rally Argentina to help make a presentation to the Municipal Hospital in Carlos Paz on behalf of the Colin McRae Vision charity.

Peugeot UK driver Meeke, who was Colin McRae’s protégé, is a patron of the charity, which was set up in memory of rally legend Colin McRae, who was killed with his young son Johnny and two family friends in a helicopter crash in 2007.

Meeke joined McRae’s widow Alison (pictured), the hospital director and Mayor of Carlos Paz, where Rally Argentina is based, to present a cheque, which will enable the hospital to purchase essential X-ray equipment.

A commemorative plaque was also unveiled with the following inscription: ‘This equipment was donated by The Colin McRae Vision Charity in memory of Colin and Johnny McRae’.

The Colin McRae Vision charity aims to raise funds for charitable and worthwhile causes, with special emphasis being given to assisting children’s health and education issues.
