The threat posed by the weather on Rally Argentina has already been realised after crews were prevented from undertaking reconnaissance of stage nine, the famous La Cumbre-Agua de Oro test, as planned on Thursday morning.

A heavy coating of fog meant the drivers and co-drivers competing on the Intercontinental Rally Challenge qualifier couldn’t make effective pacenotes and were forced to return to the stage later in the day instead to practice the route.

However, because the stage will open Sunday’s action at 08:13hrs, it is likely they could encounter similar conditions when they tackle the run in anger during the rally.

Weather conditions remained overcast at the rally base in Carlos Paz throughout Thursday with more rain falling overnight. Crews are braced for a rain-affected rally and many have revealed concerns over how the precipitation will harm the road surface.
