Ferenc Ficza to miss race week-end in Argentina
He developed appendicitis earlier this week
Ferenc Ficza won’t be in action when FIA WTCC Race of Argentina takes place in Termas de Río Hondo this weekend.
The Hungarian prospect, 20, had been due to drive his regular Zengő Motorsport Honda Civic WTCC but is a non-starter after he developed appendicitis in his native Hungary earlier this week. Because the condition required surgery in hospital, he has been prevented from flying to South America for rounds 15 and 16 of the FIA World Touring Car Championship from 5-7 August.
A Zengő Motorsport spokesperson said: “Ferenc regrets that he is not at Termas. It’s an event he was looking forward to because the circuit looked very good to him. Now he will watch the live coverage on Eursport and follow his team-mate Dani [Nagy], who he is a big fan of. It his hoped Ferenc will be fit for WTCC Race of Japan next month.”
While Ficza, who won the TAG Heuer Best Lap Trophy at WTCC ROSNEFT Race of Russia in June, won’t be able to take part in Argentina, teenager Dániel Nagy will continue his WTCC campaign in Zengő’s second Civic.
