Yvan Muller doubled his WTCC victories
In less than two years
With the World Championship enjoying a break before resuming in Brazil on 22 July, there is the time to take a look at the series’ statistics.
In less than two years Yvan Muller has managed to double the number of his race wins, adding 14 victories to the 13 he had claimed between 2006 and 2010. With 27 successes the Frenchman leads the list of the winning drivers from his Chevrolet team-mates Rob Huff and Alain Menu (both on 20). Andy Priaulx is still fourth with 18 wins, but Gabriele Tarquini is only one victory behind.
The Italian driver has not given up from being the king of pole positions. Topping the qualifying in Monza and Portimão enabled him to stay on top of this list, with 15 pole positions, followed by Muller (13) and Menu (12).
Muller is also the leader in fastest laps (20, against Menu’s 19), number of laps led (331, against Menu’s 242) and number of points scored (1389, against Huff’s 1180). Tarquini (1003) is the only other driver who has topped the 1000 mark.
