Guy Wilks says he now has a much better understanding of his Peugeot 207 Super 2000 following a test in France last week.

The session, which was overseen by the factory Peugeot Sport operation, gave Wilks an opportunity to get back behind the wheel of a 207 S2000, which he drove in competition for the first time on Rallye Monte-Carlo in January following limited pre-season running.

“I was very pleased with how it went,” said the 30-year-old Intercontinental Rally Challenge event winner. “Whenever you get the opportunity to work with Peugeot Sport it’s always good and I’ve got a much better understanding of the car now. We tried some different things [with the set-up] and I was pleased the things I wanted to try the engineer also wanted to try.”

The Peugeot UK driver covered approximately 180 kilometres during his test, which he believes has set him up for a strong result on Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés next week.

“The test was very relevant for Gran Canaria but also for the car and the rest of the season,” said Wilks. “I felt comfortable with what I’ve achieved.”

Wilks and co-driver Phil Pugh finished third overall on Rally Islas Canarias last season.
