Garry Jennings claimed a debut IRC Production Cup victory on the Donnelly Group Circuit of Ireland Rally – and then underlined his desire to contest more rounds of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge in 2012.

Jennings, from Northern Ireland, spoke of his plans to enter additional IRC events in his Ralliart Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX prior to the start. After clinching the IRC Production Cup laurels in eighth overall, Jennings said: “To win the production class especially here in Ireland is a great result and it’s a credit to all the boys who worked on the car. I’d Love to go and do more rounds of the IRC. My car is for sale at the moment but I’m building a new one and it would be fantastic to do some events on gravel.”

After moving joint first in the IRC Production Cup standings with Robert Consani and Ricardo Moura following his success last weekend, Jennings said: “It’s a year ago this weekend that we debuted this car and I think this is the 10th event in a row where we have been unbeaten. That is as much a credit to the boys preparing and maintaining the car on and in between the events as it is to the crew inside it. Watching Eurosport and hearing them acknowledge our efforts and speed in what is a production category car really brings a smile to my face.”

Jennings headed Donagh Kelly and Sam Moffett in the final IRC Production Cup classification on the Circuit of Ireland Rally alongside co-driver Barry McNulty.
