Tokarski secures IRC 2WD Cup glory

Marcos Tokarski celebrated winning the second round of the IRC 2WD Cup in Curitiba by securing the final IRC drivers’ point in eighth overall.

Tokarski, at the wheel of a 1600cc Peugeot 207, had an anxious wait before learning of his victory after event officials agreed that the time he lost during a stage incident wasn’t his fault. When he was handed a corrected time it put him top of the IRC 2WD runners, 4.4 seconds ahead of fellow Brazilian Luis Tedesco’s Fiat Palio.

With Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo winner Kris Princen not competing in Brazil, Tokarski is joint top of the IRC 2WD Cup along with Princen. Tedesco shares second place with Pierre Campana, who took the runner-up spot in Monte Carlo. Peugeot is 12 points clear of M-Sport in the 2WD Cup manufacturers’ classification.
