Solberg on provisional podium of Rallye de France
After day two
Petter Solberg concluded day two of Rallye de France on the provisional podium.
The Norwegian climbed up to third overall thanks to a good afternoon run and two stage victories (SS15 ans 16).
“Now I’m really happy”, said Solberg. “We didn’t get the chance to test on muddy conditions before the rally, so we struggled a bit to find the pace. But this afternoon we made some changes, and there it was! Right on the pace, and two stage wins. Feels so good!”
Solberg is 31.4 seconds adrift of 2nd-placed Dani Sordo but will fight hard on Sunday’s four stages to try and close the gap on the Spaniard.
“I really want to catch up with Sordo tomorrow and will do whatever I can for it to happen”, he added.
Entered in the rally with the Petter Solberg Word Rally Team, Frenchman Yvan Muller damaged a wheel on the third stage of the day and lost a bit of time fixing it. He managed to complete the stage and the next one to make it to service. He ended the day 51 minutes behind the leader Sébastien Loeb.
