Patrik Sandell will start RACMSA Rally of Scotland later this week intent on putting a frustrating season in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge behind him.

A lack of strong results has left Sandell in 14th position in the drivers’ classification, making him determined to land a strong result on the spectacular forest-based stages in Scotland.

“It’s true, it’s not been a great season,” said Sandell. “Things have not been going my way at all and we need to do a really good end of season to find a drive for next year. It’s very important we do a good job in Scotland and Cyprus [venue of the final round next month].”

Sandell is currently embarking on a two-day test in preparation for the gravel spectacular. The ŠKODA Sweden ace is one of the favourites to win the penultimate IRC event of 2011 in the Fabia Super 2000 he shares with fellow Swede Staffan Parmander.
