SS4: Mikkelsen opens up small Sanremo

Andreas Mikkelsen has moved three seconds clear at the top of the Rallye Sanremo leaderboard after he set the pace through the repeat of the 13.06-kilometre Coldirodi stage in his ŠKODA UK Motorsport Fabia Super 2000.

Mikkelsen, from Norway, had started the test 1.4s ahead of Thierry Neuville but is now 3.0s in front after his Belgian rival could only manage the fifth quickest time in his Team Peugeot Belgium-Luxembourg 207.

Freddy Loix has cemented third overall for the BFO-ŠKODA Rally Team, while Jan Kopecky, who tops the Intercontinental Rally Challenge drivers’ standings, has climbed to fifth after moving ahead of Italian M-Sport Ford Fiesta driver Umberto Scandola and Peugeot Sport Portugal’s Bruno Magalhães.
