Two ŠKODA Fabia R2s will be in action on Rallye Sanremo when the asphalt event, round nine of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, gets underway on Friday afternoon.

Jaromir Tarabus, from Czech Republic, will pilot one of the Ipromat Motorsport-developed machines, while local hero Elvis Chentre will be at the wheel of a second entry.

Both cars are being run in conjunction with Vieffcorse and the two drivers will be among the favourites to capture the IRC 2WD Cup spoils this weekend.

“Our Italian [debut is taking place] thanks to cooperation with the home team Vieffcorse, who has extensive experience in preparing racing cars,” said Ipromat’s Vlastimil Bruzl. “This team has a great interest in the operation of the Fabia R2 in the Italian championship next year. So we agreed to start two cars on Rallye Sanremo where we show [our car to] teams, the media and the public.”

Competition in the IRC 2WD Cup in Sanremo is expected to be intense with a number of the category’s leading runners competing on the Italian event.
