Peugeot wins at Silverstone

One hour after the start was given; the Audi/Peugeot duel carries on along the track. Complete inversion of the positions: the two 908HDi-FAP Peugeots are now leading the pack. First is n°1, followed by N°4. And now Audi has an only car to resist: N°8 which ranks third, after the drop of N° 7 driven by Allan McNish.

In LMP2, the HPD ARX-01c n°42 of Team Strakka Racing is so far the leader of their category, ahead the two Ginettas Zytek 09S, respectively Quifel-ASM and Bruichladdich. In LMGT2, Ferrari F430 n°95 of AF Corse has overtaken the V8 Vantage Aston Martin n°92 (JMW Motorsport). In FLM, Team Hope Polevision’s N° 47 keeps the lead.

After 2 hours: The pack sets the pace

The race is now regulated. The Two HDiFAP Peugeots keep the lead, hounded by the Audi and Lola Aston Martin 009. To be noticed: the drop of the other Audi is due to an electronic failure.

In LMP2, Strakka is always leading in front of OAK Racing and Quifel/ASM. In LMGT2, the leading trio moves every lap, or nearly. Lamborghini N° 96 has now the advantage over Prospeed’s Porsche N° 75. In FLM, 47 keeps the lead.

After 3 hours: Mid race / Full excitement!

At mid-race of the Autosport 1000Km of Silverstone, Nicolas Minassian on Peugeot N°1 keeps the lead in front of the sister car run by Oreca and the Audi N°8.

In LMP2, Team Quifel/ASM drivers are now leading the category in front of OAK Racing n°35 and Strakka Racing’s 42.

LMGT2 also sees many changes of lead. The Aston Martin N° 92 has recovered advantage over the Ferrari N°96 and the Porsche N° 75. In FLM, this is not the case with Hope Polevision’s N°47 is still leading the pack.

After 4 hours: No breathing space for this Le Mans Series finale

Fourth racing hour and the P1 classification remains the same: Peugeot n°1 & n°4, Audi n°8. After a small scratch in the pit lane between the two Rebellion Racing, n°12 is once again unlucky with a track slip off together with Spyker n°85 and Ferrari n°90. An incident leading Jani Neel to visit the pits.

In LMP2, n°35 has remarkably caught up after a start from the bottom of the grid. In LMGT2, the Aston Martin n°92 is still in front of Lamborghini n°96 and Porsche n°75. The FLM n°47 does not leave any chance to its contenders.

Double for Peugeot !

The Audi Peugeot duel ends with a full victory of the French manufacturer. The two HDiFAPs are on the two highest steps of the podium, successively N°1 and N°4. The latter offers ORECA Matmut the team title. Peugeot gains the manufacturer title and Stephane Sarrazin the Drivers ‘one. The LMP2 finish was less clear and finally it is Strakka Racing who heard their national hymn during the prize giving.

No surprise in the LMGT1: Larbre Competition was the only team of the category on the track and had the title from Hungary.

In LMGT2, Ferrari n°96 of Team AF Corse finally gets rid of its contenders after over five hours of suspense. In FLM, n°44 gets rid of n°47.

This final 2010 Le Mans Series race have offered the 40,000 spectators a very exciting show.
