Marcos Ligato is confident he can mount a bid for the Production Car World Rally Championship crown when he gets his title campaign underway on his home event, Rally Argentina, this week.

Ligato is back in the PWRC after a six-year absence and will pilot a Subaru Impreza run by the Italian Top Run team.

He said: “I always fight for the title and this year we can make a very good job. I have more experience and that is important in the PWRC. You must be very careful all the time and try to run with this in mind, not flat-out all the time. It’s very important to finish all the rallies and I think my experience now is better than before.”

Ligato’s preparations for the gravel counter haven’t quite gone to plan after he was prevented from conducting a pre-event test.

“We have a problem with the time of arrival of the car in Buenos Aires and the car arrived when we started the recce,” Ligato explained. “We couldn’t test before, but I made some laps in the shakedown. The car is very easy to drive. I feel good and we must find a good speed for the rally and not lose that idea.”
