Krózser expects tough Corsica debut

Menya Krózser admits round four of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, this week’s Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse, won’t be easy.

The Honda Civic Type R driver drew the conclusion following initial testing ahead of his first appearance on the island event, which starts in Ajaccio on 9 May and finishes in Bastia on 12 May.

“This is my first experience in Corsica and after just a few kilometres in testing I knew that it will be a very difficult rally,” said the Hungarian two-wheel-drive champion. “The stages are all narrow and bumpy and the Tarmac on the mountain roads is very abrasive. Each corner is different and you only have the bends and Armco barriers as points of reference, which makes it terribly hard to go fast without making mistakes. It will also prove difficult for my co-driver György [Papp] too: bar a few exceptions, we will run each of the special stages only once. So it will be a rally where we’re starting over and over again, from scratch.”

Krózser, whose car is run by the team of Gyula Hering, has started two rounds of this year’s IRC 2WD Cup. Despite setting competitive times in his category he has yet to register a finish.
