Kopecký: error-free performance (...)

Jan Kopecký reckons the unique format of Targa Florio-Rally Internazionale Di Sicilia will mean any mistakes will prove to be more costly than on other rounds of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

Kopecký, currently second in the IRC standings for ŠKODA Motorsport, is making his debut on the Tarmac rally located east of Sicily’s capital Palermo.

The format of the Targa Florio differs to other IRC rounds with the action contained within five different stage layouts: a single run over the Citta’ Di Palmero stage on Thursday night, three passes over the Targa and Collesano stages on Friday and two runs over the Cefalu and Castelbuono stages on Saturday.

Speaking from his home in Czech Republic prior to heading to the Mediterranean island, Kopecký said: “This is a new event in the IRC calendar, and I am sure the Italian drivers will be pretty fast. With a limited number of routes to be done repeatedly, the format of this rally is rather unusual, and there will be no space for any mistakes. My co-driver Pavel [Dresler] and I are already looking forward a great deal to this new challenge.”
