Japan set to adopt S2000 Touring Cars

Concorde Management in partnership with Asatsu-DK Inc. announced today their plans to organise and promote from 2012 a Japanese Touring Car Championship (JTCC) for cars complying with the Super 2000 technical regulations and to launch it officially at the 2011 WTCC Race of JAPAN.

This plan also includes a close cooperation with the China Touring Car Championship (CTCC), as both series will visit each other during the 2012 season. JTCC provisional calendar will comprise five events in Japan and one in China.

JTCC and CTCC promoters are also planning to organise together from 2014 an Asian Touring Car Championship for cars complying with the Super 2000 regulations.

WTCC promoter Marcello Lotti commmented: “We are extremely pleased with this initiative that supports our strategy to gather the national championships under the same set of rules. As soon as everything is coming together, we will be happy to offer our full support to the JTCC.”
