Danish power in Yokohama Trophy

Danish drivers shared victories in the latest races of the Yokohama Trophies, last Sunday at Brno. Kristian Poulsen (BMW 320 TC) and Michel Nykjær (SUNRED León 1.6T) emerged as the winners on the Czech track, and also claimed one fifth place apiece in the overall results.

The winner of Race 1, Poulsen commented: “It was great fun to fight with Menu and Coronel for third position. I took a very good start and managed to overtake Alain on the outside, although he passed me again soon. In the second part of the race I focused on Tom, I could see that I was faster, but I did not want to risk. I needed the points and settled with winning the trophy.”

“I was very happy, especially because the start of the weekend had not been good, with a lot of problems in setting up the car. I took a good start and was able to follow Coronel, but then the Chevrolet cars came up. I kept Muller at bay for four laps, but I could see that I wouldn’t be able to hold second place, so it was safer to let them by. We are getting closer now; we are still a bit short on power, but we have something to build on and the potential to claim podium finishes,” said Nykjær after winning the second race.

Poulsen is the current leader with 67 points, four more than Javier Villa. Norbert Michelisz lies in third position a further ten points behind, and is closely followed by Darryl O’Young and Nykjær.
