Betti unhurt following shakedown crash

Intercontinental Rally Challenge regulars Luca Betti and co-driver Maurizio Barone were unharmed following a heavy crash during shakedown for Barum Czech Rally Zlín this morning.

Driving a Peugeot 207 Super 2000, Betti got out of shape on a long, downhill right-hand bend, clipped a ditch and rolled close to the start of the 4.31-kilometre test near Napajedla, a short distance from the permanent service park in Otrokovice.

Damage to his car was extensive and it’s not clear whether or not he will be able to start the event. Shakedown was stopped for several minutes while Betti’s damaged car was recovered.

“We know there was one wheel off the car but until we complete a full check we cannot be sure of the situation,” said a spokesperson for Betti’s Kimera Motorsport team.

Shakedown took place in ambient temperatures of 36 degrees centigrade. No official times were available.
