Arai in trouble on Sata Rallye Açores

Toshi Arai’s bid to win the IRC Production Cup section on Sata Rallye Açores has suffered a major setback after his Subaru Impreza STI R4 suffered an electrical failure on the fourth stage of the event.

The Japanese, who completed day one of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge qualifier in 10th overall alongside co-driver Dale Moscatt, was nearing the finish of the 7.90-kilometre Batalha Golfe test when he hit trouble.

A spokesperson for Subaru said: “He stopped with an electrical problem near the end of the stage. We’re waiting for more updates.”
