Yves Matton on Kris Meeke’s crash
The belgian is not happy with his ritish driver
What happened?
“All we know at this stage is that the car rolled several times, and it seems that the car has two wheels off. I know nothing more for the moment because there is no communication signal on the stage. What we know so far came via an email.”
It must be a massive disappointment for the team after such a promising start.
“Yes, he started with good pace and he was seeming not to take too much risk, but I need to speak to him to see what happened.”
What does this mean for Meeke’s chances of a place in the team?
“I will say it will not help, for sure, but the first thing is to speak with him to know what happened. But for sure it was not what I ask him to do.”
And what about Citroen’s chances in the manufacturers’ championship?
“With this situation it seems to be difficult. After Germany we were back at 26 points [behind Volkswagen] but here we will score with only one car, and if it finishes like this Volkswagen will score with two, so it will be difficult, yes.”
