Wiechers-Sport to start from Zolder
Urs Sonderegger for the beginning of the season
Wiechers-Sport entered one car for the full 2011 season. However, they will miss the opening race meeting in Brazil and will join from the second event at Zolder.
The German team signed Swiss racer Urs Sonderegger who will be at the wheel of a new BMW 320 TC car from Zolder to Oschersleben. Wiechers-Sport will name later on during the season the driver they will sign for racing in Spain, Japan, China and Macau.
“We managed to finalize the programme very late. Therefore we decided to skip the Brazilian opener and focus on testing the new car in Europe before Zolder,” team manager Dominik Grainer explained.
Sonderegger, a 46-year old from Glaser, has previously competed in the European and the Spanish SEAT León Cup.
“I’m very happy and looking forward to the new season, which will be my first one in a professional championship. I’m a Rookie and I have to learn a lot. I’m confident that I will receive from Wiechers-Sport all the support I need to learn as quick as possible!” stated Sonderegger.
