Jean-Michel Raoux has given himself the best possible chance of winning the IRC 2WD Cup this season after revealing plans to enter at least four more rounds.

The Frenchman, the runaway leader in the two-wheel drive category in a Clio R3, will contest the upcoming Barum Czech Rally Zlin, Mecsek Rallye, RACMSA Rally of Scotland and the Cyprus Rally. An outing on Rallye Sanremo in Italy at the end of September is also a possibility providing additional backing can be sourced.

“We’ll be doing four more rounds and I’d love to do Rallye Sanremo as well but I think we’re going to need a bit of help from a sponsor for that as it’s not in our programme at the moment,” said Raoux. “It was important for me to do Cyprus and Scotland as these events give more points for the championship, so I entered Sata Rallye Acores to prepare for those gravel events.”

Following his second place finish in the Azores, Raoux’s advantage over his rivals is 24 points. Briton Harry Hunt, the defending IRC 2WD Cup champion, is currently 13th in the standings 33 points adrift of Raoux.
