Monteiro reflects on testing the new Honda Civic in Barcelona
"I think we are on the right track"
The Spanish circuit of Montmeló near Barcelona, hosted a four day testing session last week where the JAS Motorsport Honda team worked on preparing the new car for the upcoming 2014 FIA World Touring Car Championship, the WTCC.
Tiago Monteiro and Gabriele Tarquini were behind the wheel of the new Honda Civic for what was an intense and productive test. The Portuguese driver and his team have taken yet another step forward in the preparation of a season that should be the most competitive ever.
The new Honda Civic is evolving step by step and Tiago is feeling more confident after this Spanish test. "We worked hard, evolved and we did some race simulations and I think we are on the right track," Tiago explained. "We must continue to adapt and understand the car, but I’m already more comfortable."
Over the four days, Honda, JAS Motorsport and their drivers gathered a lot of information on both the mechanical and technical aspects of the Honda Civic along with its behavior and handling. This information will now be analyzed by the team before the next winter testing scheduled to take place at the Paul Ricard circuit in France from the 24th to the 26th of February. "There is still a lot of work to do before the first race of the season. Our program includes several tests and I think we will have reached a good level by the time the championship gets underway. The entire team has done an outstanding job," concluded Tiago Monteiro.
