Loix reveals IRC title chase satisfactio

Freddy Loix, part of a five-way final-round battle for Intercontinental Rally Challenge title glory last season, has revealed he was able to take plenty of positives from his 2011 campaign despite losing out on the coveted crown on the Cyprus Rally showdown.

Loix, who has been linked to a return to the IRC in 2012, contested eight rounds in 2011 scoring a single victory and claiming four podium finishes in his BFO-ŠKODA Rally Team Fabia Super 2000. He eventually finished fourth in the final drivers’ standings.

“I did a fantastic season before Cyprus,” said the 41-year-old Belgian ace. “I did seven rallies, six times I was at the finish and five times I was on the podium. Okay in Sanremo I had an off but I was fighting for the victory and leading. On full speed I was still there but I didn’t really have a chance of the championship doing eight rallies when some of the others did 10 or 11.”

Loix is expected to announce his programme for 2012 shortly.
