Late San Marino heartbreak for Puskadi
"It’s really, really sad because we’d set a good time"
This is the moment that János Puskádi realised his hopes of a top 10 finish on Rally San Marino were over following his dramatic exit from the Intercontinental Rally Challenge qualifier yesterday.
Puskádi had just clocked the fifth fastest time on the event’s final stage only to go off the road after the flying finish in his Eurosol Racing Team ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000. Despite frantic attempts to regain the road, Puskádi was forced to retire from a potential eighth place.
“It’s really, really sad because we’d set a good time and had improved again,” the Hungarian told IRC Rally Radio’s Chris Rawes. “It was my fault, I was a little too fast for the corner.”
Puskádi, a former IRC 2WD Cup frontrunner, is contesting selected rounds of the main IRC this season and finished seventh on Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés in March. Rally San Marino marked the first time he’d driven his Fabia on gravel.
