Hungaroring, MAC3 : Citroën trio victorious by a tenth
Lada lacks speed in Budapest
Mehdi Bennani once more joined factory drivers José María López and Yvan Muller in the Citroën line-up for the Tour de France-inspired team time trial, and this time it was Muller who was the last of the three across the line with a time of 3m41.538s over two laps from a standing start.
Honda, with its driver Norbert Michelisz, Tiago Monteiro and Rob Huff, was 0.174 seconds slower. LADA was 1.49s behind with Gabriele Tarquini, Hugo Valente and Nicky Catsburg.
Citroën has now taken a hat-trick of maximum scores in MAC3 so far, but its small advantage over Honda in Hungary was actually its largest winning margin yet. It finished in a dead heat with Honda in Slovakia last weekend, and beat LADA by just 0.03 seconds in the opening event at Paul Ricard.
MAC3 is timed by the WTCC’s Official Timing Partner Tag Heuer and awards up to 10 points for the Manufacturers’ championship.
