Tom Coronel has compared his giant-killing performance to win the FIA WTCC AFRIQUIA Race of Morocco Opening Race on Sunday to Leicester City winning the English Premier League.
Leicester pulled off one of the biggest shocks in sport when they beat several more fancied sides to England’s top football title. And privateer racer Coronel believes his win under intense pressure from world champion José María López was on a par.
“A fantastic result and great for the entire team, a little bit like Leicester City winning the Premier League,” said ROAL Motorsport Chevrolet driver Coronel. “A great success for our small team in the big field with the factory teams. It also really was a nice race, thrilling and with a fantastic result.”
