Cetinkaya breaks another record

After becoming the first female driver to score points in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge with a top 10 finish in Scotland in 2010, Burcu Cetinkaya set another benchmark in her native Turkey last month.

By finishing third overall on the Hitit Rally, the 30-year-old from Istanbul became the first female driver to claim a podium finish on a national event in her homeland.

Co-driven by Unal Tezel, Cetinkaya had to overcome a number of mechanical problems to win her class in a SKODA Fabia Super 2000.

Cetinkaya, who contested two rounds of the IRC in 2011, will head next to Dubai to tackle the final round of the Middle East championship in a Ralliart Mitsubishi Lancer. The event takes place from 1-3 December.
