The second round of the 2011 IRC 2WD Cup takes place on Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés next month with at least 10 drivers set to battle it out for two-wheel-drive glory.

A popular addition to the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, the IRC 2WD Cup was created for the 2008 season and lists Marco Cavigioli, Harry Hunt and Denis Millet as its former champions.

On Rally Islas Canarias last year, Yeray Lemes took victory in the IRC 2WD Cup section of the event in an M-Sport Ford Fiesta (pictured).

Although Lemes is unlikely to return to defend his title this year due to another international programme that he is pursuing, several other Spanish drivers are set to take part in a variety of cars, and full details of the IRC 2WD Cup participants on the event will be published in the coming weeks.

Rally Islas Canarias is based in the town of Las Palmas on the island of Gran Canaria. The event uses asphalt only stages and runs from 14-16 April.
