Vettel questions refuelling ban

The rules this year no longer permit refuelling during the Grand Prix and as a consequence, the cars will line up in Bahrain with in excess of 160 kilos of fuel on board.

It is hoped that the change in rules will result in more overtaking, as traditionally most of the passing is completed during the fuel stops with the drivers opting to wait until their rival pits before picking up the pace and taking the position.

Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel however questions this theory claiming that the limited scope for strategy, could in fact be detrimental to the sport.

"It means there are far fewer strategic options," Motorsport Aktuell quote Vettel as saying. "As long as you can drive away in front, the new rules are fine. But if you start further back, you will be missing some of the tactical components that refuelling allowed."
