US getting fed up with USF1

If there were prizes for poor public relations, USF1 would be championship material.

The new team has consistently failed to provide Formula One fans and indeed their own fans – if they have any – with any useful timely information regarding their preparations - or lack of it - for the 2010 season.

Indeed, the last update on the team’s official website is dated January 25th with regard to the signing of Jose Maria Lopez.

Since then of course the team has indirectly provided some news of their progress - or lack of it - towards competing in Formula One this year.

Speaking to the New York Times, team boss Ken Anderson revealed that the Charlotte-based outfit has requested to the FIA that it can miss the first four races of the season. Given the recent ‘clarification’ on the issue from the sport’s governing body, this seems most unlikely.

Again, no mention on the team’s official website which seems rather odd considering the gravity of the situation.

Certainly some local media outlets in the US are frustrated with the antics of their home-grown Formula One outfit...

"Adding to the concerns of US fans: The team hasn’t told them anything," writes Bob Henry of the North Carolina New Observer. “Phone calls and emails – not just those originating here, have been pretty much ignored. But, hey, we’re just the hometown media, not the European audience they would apparently prefer playing to.

“The Serbian team [StefanGP] has reportedly shipped stuff – cars, equipment, tools and more – to Bahrain, just on the chance it could race in the season-opening Grand Prix. Popular Canadian veteran Jacques Villeneuve is said to be standing by.

"Are US fans left to stand by? We’d all like to know what the plan is for USF1. If there is one.”
