As Mark and Sebastian prepare to do battle in Valencia for this weekend’s European Grand Prix, their thoughts turn to the Red Bull recent form, the track, the competition, and er… the World Cup.

While many predicted thez RB6 would struggle in Canada, which requires a similar set-up to Valencia, Mark says the Red Bull display in Montreal is a good indicator of the team and the cars’ overall strength. He said: “I wouldn’t pick it as a venue where we’re going to go and get an easy victory, because I don’t think the layout of the circuit is one that suits us so much. But, we surprised ourselves in Canada and were a bit more competitive than we thought we would be there. It was a tight group and we finished behind the main teams, McLaren and Ferrari, but we have a good chance to get good results here.

“Looking at the races after Valencia, I think we can be a bit stronger again.”

And his team-mate says that the team will be helped by the constantly evolving RB6. Vettel said: “The difference in Valencia will be that we will use the F-duct on Friday during practice in order to improve top speed on the straights. The fact that we were close to our competitors in Canada without the F-duct gives us hope.

“The gap to the top isn’t that big and I hope we can make a step forward in the Constructors’ as well as in the Drivers’ Championship this weekend. Looking to other Championships, I hope that Germany will keep winning and get to the final!”
