Pastor Maldonado has picked up two further penalties after a disastrous Belgian Grand Prix for the Venezuelan driver, after both jumping the start and then colliding with Timo Glock at turn 1. This means Maldonado will drop 10 grid positions for next weekend’s Italian Grand Prix.

Once the lights went out, it became apparent that Pastor Maldonado undoubtedly jumped the start, after the Williams driver stormed through the grid after gaining the illegal advantage. However, before the stewards could impose any kind of penalty during the race, Maldonado retired on lap 4 after colliding with the Marussia of Timo Glock. This brought to an end the Venezuelan’s disastrous race weekend, in which Maldonado incurred three penalties for misdemeanors on the track.

“The stewards, having received a report from the Race Director, heard from both drivers and team representatives, have considered the following matter, determine a breach of the regulations has been committed by the competitor named below [Maldonado] and impose the penalty referred to.” Read a statement from the race stewards with regards to Maldonado’s double penalty.

Pastor Maldonado has incurred the wrath of the stewards on numerous occasions throughout the season, and has still yet to score a point since his illustrious victory at the Spanish Grand Prix in May. Maldonado currently sits 14th in the Drivers’ Championship with only 29 points scored.
