Jean-Eric Vergne has today confirmed that Toro Rosso are preparing to introduce several new updates to their car for the Belgian Grand Prix, as well as testing several new updates for next season. This will be Vergne’s first taste of the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in F1 machinery, a track he has excelled on beforehand.

These new updates in question consist of improvements to the suspension on the STR7, something which the team are very much looking forward to this weekend. Toro Rosso have endured a tough start to the 2012 season, with neither Jean-Eric Vergne nor Daniel Ricciardo scoring any points since the Malaysian Grand Prix back in March.

Toro Rosso are only 6 points ahead of Caterham in the Constructors’ Championship, and a whole 40 points behind Force India. With Technical Director Giorgio Ascanelli rumored to be departing from the Faenza-based outfit, both Vergne and Ricciardo will undoubtedly be praying these updates provide Toro Rosso with a boost for the remainder of the season.

“Yeah we have some good updates.” Explained Jean-Eric Vergne, “Well, I don’t know if they’re good, but we have some and also we’re testing some new things for next year’s car – front suspension. So, everything is still going on quite well in the team and we’re looking forward to this weekend.”

Jean-Eric Vergne has enjoyed much success at Spa-Francorchamps throughout his career, including victory last season in the World Series by Renault. Victory is unquestionably out of the Frenchman’s reach this weekend, however both he and his team-mate will be striving to bring home the teams first ever points since the beginning of the season.
