Grosjean: There is more to come (...)

A productive day at the office for Romain Grosjean saw the Frenchman clinch P11 and P8 in the opening sessions of the weekend, but as with his team-mate, the reigning GP2 Series Champion is turning his full attention to qualifying…

Romain, how did Friday go for you in Valencia?

This morning we had to make a few adjustments as we thought it was going to be a bit warmer today. That took a bit of time, but then this afternoon was really productive on track. The car looked good again during the long runs on high fuel as it has been up until now, so that’s a positive sign for the race. I think there is more to come from myself and from the car on single lap running so we‘ll be working on preparations for qualifying tomorrow. It was also quite windy today but the E20 is coping quite well with it and we haven’t suffered too much as a result.

The team has highlighted qualifying as an area for improvement; how much work have you already done in preparation for Saturday?

Well, this is one of the areas that we have been working on since our return from Canada. I was back in Enstone last week working with the engineers to see how we can improve in that area. Today we mostly worked on preparing for Sunday, but tomorrow morning we’ll focus on being ready qualifying.

You’ve won here before in the GP2 Series; does this give you more confidence coming into the weekend?

I like being here generally to be honest; the weather’s nice, the surroundings are beautiful… but most importantly I hope that come Sunday we’ll have a good race. Overtaking doesn’t look so easy so we’ll see how the race unfolds. For now we just need to keep working hard to prepare for tomorrow – first in FP3, and then of course we’ll do our best to put in a strong qualifying performance.
