Alguersuari looks forward to racing Schumacher

Jaime Alguersuari was just one year old when Michael Schumacher made his Grand Prix debut with Jordan in 1991. This year, the youngest F1 driver in the field and the oldest will compete against each other.

"Michael is not just the number one in F1, but for me he is also someone to follow after F1," Alguersuari told ESPN Star "In his personal life, he is a professional athlete, and that is really good from his perspective. It’s great he has come back, but he is just another driver on the track. He commands the same respect as any other driver."

Alguersuari made his Grand Prix debut in Hungary last year having only completed straight line running in Formula One machinery. He remains critical of the test restrictions in place.

"For me this year is going to be longer than last year, and I’m pleased I’m going to have time to prepare, so it’s going to be easier," he said. "We will be more competitive and ready for Formula One, whereas last year everything came so fast. I didn’t know the car, the circuits, so this year should be much better for me. This year I’ll have seven or eight days of testing, which is not so bad. Last year I had none.

"There should be more testing, not just for the young drivers, but to improve the teams and the cars.”
