Both HRT cars will be allowed to start Sunday’s Monaco grand prix.

Vitantonio Liuzzi’s car could not be repaired for qualifying after his morning crash, while Narain Karthikeyan did not complete a lap due to a suspension problem.

It was believed that due to the Hispania cars’ questionable practice pace, the stewards would declare they fell afoul the 107 pc qualifying rule.

But HRT confirmed: "Both cars will be on the grid tomorrow after the decision made by the FIA stewards."

Meanwhile, FIA press delegate Matteo Bonciani on Saturday said Sergio Perez is spending the night in the local Princess Grace hospital.

The news is a blow to the Mexican’s hopes of taking to the grid on Sunday, in the wake of his sickening qualifying crash in which he emerged with concussion and a bruised thigh.

"His condition is currently reported as ’encouraging’. He will remain in hospital overnight," said Bonciani.
